Empowering Toronto’s Youth Since 2010
Squashing the barriers for Toronto's youth.
Urban Squash supports underserved students in graduating high school, pursuing post-secondary education and building career pathways by removing the barriers in their way.
Why we exist
Potential is everywhere.
Opportunity is not.
Our goal is for every student to graduate high school, pursue post-secondary education and build a successful career. We design our programming to make that happen by removing the barriers our student communities face in reaching these goals.
Squash is rarely available in community settings and usually out of reach for low-income families. We open that door, and we use the court to teach commitment, resilience, discipline and sportsmanship.
Proud to be the only Canadian member of the Squash + Education Alliance.
The Urban Squash journey
Seven years together. A lifetime of momentum.
We do not do drop-in. Every student is with us for the long run, with goals that grow as they do.
Building the Foundation
Students join in Grade 6 and are invited three days a week. Each session opens with a shared healthy meal, then splits between the classroom and the court, so good habits form early.
Growing Into Leaders
In high school, students set their own academic and squash pathways in one-on-one planning meetings, receive tutoring and academic guidance, and take on leadership roles.
Launching Forward
Our goal is for every student to graduate and pursue the post-secondary path of their choice. Many come back as paid Junior Directors for the next generation.
